Freshmen and Sophomores CAN study abroad!

Are you a freshman or sophomore? Did you know that you can study abroad?

Yes, yes, this is true! Underclassmen can (and should) study abroad! It is definitely not too early to begin your summer abroad experience. Many think that studying abroad is something only juniors and seniors can do, but this is a misconception! With just a few requirements and a painless application, enrollment for a UC Davis Summer Abroad program is easy. With over 30 programs, most of them taught in English, it seems the hardest part is choosing the right program for you!

All our courses offered abroad are led by UC Davis faculty, a great advantage of studying abroad through the UC Davis Summer Abroad program. Small classroom sizes and interest-oriented field trips give you the chance to get know your professor, something that may be otherwise hard to do in classes on campus with 100+ students. Better yet, you obtain 8 quarter units of credit. Courses require no prerequisites* and taking the courses abroad is a great way of learning since you learn material that goes beyond the classroom level and comes to life. Taking your education to another country ideal to your subject matter of interest is extremely beneficial.

Where will you go for your Summer Abroad?

*For the few courses that have prerequisites, many times they may be (and are) waived by the instructor.

Studying abroad the summer after my freshman year was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I feel confident saying that am beyond-satisfied with my decision to study abroad as a freshman. 2009 Participant
