(ADD) insurance for each student. The UC sponsored ACE coverage is to be used for
catastrophic events such as, but not limited to, loss associated with death, dismemberment,
paralysis and total disability.
Coverage information is available in the online Benefits Summary. You will
have access to your ACE Student Insurance card through your Enrolled Access page.
Print this card and carry it with you at all times when you travel.
Travel Health Insurance (HTH)
Summer Abroad will purchase a travel health policy for participants in all programs.
(Participants in our London programs housed at FIE, Foundation for International
Education, receive a policy arranged through FIE which includes on-site doctor visits.)
If you have additional health insurance, it is a good idea to contact your provider
to check to see whether you are covered overseas. Bring copies of any additional
insurance cards you have with you on your trip
HTH insurance may cover minor and major medical needs that arise while abroad. A
list of approved providers (doctors) in your program location, if available, will
be given to your instructor. You can also find
a list of providers by logging into the HTH website. If you use an approved
provider you will only have to pay the co-pay / deductible. If you use a non-approved
Provider, you will pay your medical expenses upfront and must file for reimbursement
when you return to the U.S. Claim forms can be obtained through the HTH website
(above). Additional contact information and instructions will come with your HTH
insurance cards, which will be distributed to you on-site by your instructor.
For a complete review of the coverage and instructions for filing claims, see
the "Health & Insurance" section of the Summer Abroad Student Handbook (SASH).
