My Summer Abroad Enrolled Access

When you log in to your Summer Abroad account, you will now land on customized page that displays information about your enrolled program/s. Note: If your landing page does not say you are enrolled in a program but think you’re enrolled, please contact summer-abroad@ucdavis.edu  or 530-757-8308 immediately.

Log in to your Summer Abroad account to find:

  • Program Specific Guide (PSG)

You will be able to download a PDF of your Program Specific Guide by May from your Summer Abroad account. The PSG includes important information for planning your travels, packing, contact information overseas, and what to do once you arrive. Make sure to forward the PSG to your emergency contact(s).

  • Request Accommodation for a Disability –

If you need to request reasonable accommodations for a physical or mental disability to assist you in studying abroad, please submit a letter from your campus Office for Students with Disabilities documenting your accommodation needs to your Program Coordinator. This letter should include information about how any needed accommodations will be funded. The earlier the accommodations request is made, the more measures Summer Abroad can take to explore possible accommodations at your program location. Please also note that accommodations provided on your home campus may differ and/or may not be available in the host country. In addition, Summer Abroad does not pay for the cost of accommodations you might need while studying abroad. Please submit a letter from your campus Student Disability Center, according to the instructions in “Request for Disability Accommodations Abroad Instructions”—after you have enrolled in the program.

  • Background Questionnaire – Please complete these form by the May 15th orientation.

Your instructor will review the information on this form when planning the course content and activities. It’s a nice way for him/her to get to know you before the program begins.

  • Roommate Request

Use the link on the ride sidebar after you log in to access the Roommate Request. All requests must be made by June 1, 2010. We will do our best to honor roommates requests when possible.

The following items will be available in May:

  • Payment Form- available as download
  • Flight Itinerary Form
  • Instructions for Registering in Courses
  • ACE health insurance card
  • Orientation Schedule and RSVP
  • Program Specific Announcements

Travel Preparation

Wait until you receive a program confirmation email before making travel arrangements. The confirmation email, sent to the class listserv, will have instructions for making your travel plans and is sent out between February and mid-April, depending on when a program reaches minimum enrollment. We recommend that you purchase trip cancellation insurance when purchasing your airfare.

Online Orientation

This 10-minute presentation contains time-sensitive information. Please watch it as soon as possible. In addition to this online session, there will be program-specific sessions on May 15th at UC Davis. The May 15th orientation is your opportunity to meet the instructor and learn the specifics for your program.

Pre-Departure Orientation – Save the Date, May 15, 2010.

The orientation is a great way to learn about your program, meet your instructor, ask questions and get to know your classmates. The orientation will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010 at UC Davis. The schedule will be available online and through your student login in April.

Orientation: RSVP & Materials

You will receive a travel guidebook for your program site and course reader (if applicable) at the orientation. The RSVP tool will be ready on your My Summer Abroad page by mid-April. Non-Davis students who cannot attend the orientation need to designate a mailing address for their orientation materials.

Summer Abroad Student Handbook (SASH)

The SASH contains important instructions for securing your passport, obtaining required immunizations, submitting your fees, and applying for financial aid. In addition, the handbook includes sections with advice on keeping in touch, traveling through customs, and staying healthy while abroad.

All participants should read the SASH and their Program Specific Guide (PSG) thoroughly. Many travel and program questions are answered in these two resources.

Financial Aid

If you plan to apply for financial aid, please be sure you request a deferment of fees through your Summer Abroad login. UC Davis students can now access the Summer Aid Estimator online at http://financialaid.ucdavis.edu/undergraduate/students/Programs/Summer.html. The Application for Summer Aid will be available on May 3rd. Be sure to apply on the first day! Non-Davis students, please work directly with the financial aid office on your home campus.
