Climate

When traveling to the Southern Hemisphere (Argentina, South Africa, Australia, etc.) in summer, please keep in mind that it will be winter there. Please also consider altitude when choosing a program location, especially if you know that you get altitude sickness.

After you enroll, you will receive a country-specific PSG (Program Specific Guide) to give you packing advice specific to the sites of your Summer Abroad location. Some cities and countries in the summer can be quite hot and humid and others may have very changeable weather (sunny at one moment and rainy the next). Climate will also affect transportation and how you get around the program location. Some programs will rely heavily on public transportation, and you will need to dress appropriately for walking in changeable weather or using the local buses or under-ground subway. Some programs strongly recommend that you have experience riding a bike, so you will want to factor in your ability to cope with cold, rain or wind. However, most instructors will do their best to modify the program schedule to avoid traveling in bad weather
