Travel Documents & Visa Requirements

As UC Davis Summer Abroad programs are not affiliated with a host university, you will enter as a tourist - and can travel there for 90 total days. (See qualification below). The State Department website shows the requirements for travel for U.S. citizens:

State Department: http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/brochures/brochures_1229.html#a

*Passport required. Visa not required for business/tourist stay of up to 90 days. PLEASE NOTE: The passports of all travelers to South Africa must contain at least two blank (unstamped) visa pages each time entry is sought; these pages are in addition to the endorsement/amendment pages at the back of the passport. Otherwise, the traveler, even when in possession of a valid South African visa, may be refused entry into South Africa, fined, and returned to their point of origin at the traveler’s expense, or detained for up to several days until extra visa pages are obtained.

Non-U.S. citizens should check for Visa requirements online at http://www.visahq.com/visas.php. Participants are responsible for obtaining their own visa. Summer Abroad will supply a verification of enrollment letter for non-U.S. citizens upon request.
