Peggy Shannon is a theatre professor at UC Davis. Since 1998, Professor Shannon has served as the Artistic Director of the Sacramento Theatre Company. She has directed at countless professional theatres across the U.S. including the Alliance Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, San Jose Repertory Theatre, the Los Angeles Theatre Center, the Oregon, Utah, Colorado, California, New Jersey and Idaho Shakespeare Festivals, A Contemporary Theatre as well as the National Youth Theatre in London. She has directed and co-produced numerous plays for national Public Radio. Professor Shannon also serves on the Wells Fargo Community Advisory Board for Northern California.

Corinna Seeds

Actress, theatre director and drama instructor since 1973, Corinna Seeds trained in the Stanislavski method at E.15 Acting School, and Essex University. She was Artistic Director of the Stirabout Theatre in London for over ten years and Associate Director/Actress at the Greek Arts Theatre in London. She received a Churchill Fellowship and numerous awards from the Arts Council of Great Britain for her theatre work. She has been a resident in Hydra, Greece since 1988, where she works as a theatre director, drama instructor and writer/translator. Her fields of interest are Ancient Greek theatre and Shakespeare.
This program is a study of classical and contemporary Greek Theatre and dance through dynamic seminars, entertaining workshops and exciting field trips. View the summer 2008 Course Syllabus to get a better idea of what to expect.
When in Greece do as the Greeks!!…During your stay you will be encouraged to experience and understand the Greek way of life of early mornings, long afternoon rests (siestas) and late nights welcoming the coolness. You will eat Greek food, learn basic Greek language and customs..meet greek families…listen to Greek music..swim..dance. There will be ample time off but we will be following a structured daily schedule of seminars and workshops:

You will be graded in four ways. One is a weekly grade based on the quizzes and discussion, one is the journal grade (in lieu of a research paper), one is the attendance and participation grade and the fourth is a final project grade. The nature of how these grades are evaluated is described below.
Ordering / Bookstore Information
You can purchase your books from the UC Davis MU Bookstore or another bookseller online. If you are mail-ordering your books, make sure to order them from the bookstore by June 1, ensuring you get them before you depart. You cannot get books sent to your address abroad. Summer Abroad is supplying a copy of a Lonely Planet travel guide. Participants will get their guidebooks at the May 17th orientation. If you are unable to attend the orientation (non-Davis students only), we will mail your guidebook with the orientation materials.
