As UC Davis Summer Abroad programs are not affiliated with a host university, you will enter as a tourist - and can travel there for 90 total days. (See qualification below). The State Department website shows the requirements for travel for U.S. citizens:
State Department Consular Information Sheet: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1765.html
*United States citizens entering Chile for business or pleasure must have a valid passport and visa. Visas may be obtained at the port of entry upon a $100 payment of a fee in U.S. dollars. The visa is valid for multiple entries to Chile and remains valid until the expiration of the passport. U.S. citizens are admitted to Chile for up to 90 days. Visit the Embassy of Chile website at http://www.chile-usa.org/fastfacts.htm for the most current visa information.
Non-U.S. citizens should check for Visa requirements online at http://www.visahq.com/visas.php. Participants are responsible for obtaining their own visa. Summer Abroad will supply a verification of enrollment letter for non-U.S. citizens upon request.
Apply as soon as you consider traveling! In 2007 passports were delayed with the dramatic increase of passport applications.
