Grades and Transcripts

Letter Grades

The grading breakdown for each specific class is outlined in the Program Specific Guide. The Summer Abroad Office cannot tell you your grades. Please contact your instructor via email to request your final grades.

Passed/Not Passed Option

Up to midway through the Program, you may ask your instructor for permission to take the graded course on a passed/not passed basis. If you opt for Passed/Not Passed grading, the grade "P" is assigned for a grade of "C-" or higher and "NP" for a "D+" or lower. Units earned are counted in satisfaction of degree requirements but are not counted in determining your grade point average.

Viewing Your Grades

UC Davis Summer Abroad cannot tell you your grades. However, if you have a Kerberos password, you may view your grades via the Web at sisweb.ucdavis.edu.

Transferring Grades

UC Davis students do not need to transfer grades because courses taken through Summer Abroad are UC Davis courses. Grades and units are applied directly to your student records.

For non-UC Davis students, grades and units are not automatically transferred to your home institution. Grades and units are transferred only if you order a transcript from the UC Davis Office of the University Registrar or provide this information to the registrar on your campus.

Ordering Transcripts

Transcripts are ordered through the Office of the University Registrar. Transcripts cost $6.00 (or $15.00 for a rush) each. Instructions for requesting a transcript are available on-line at the UC Davis Registrar's Transcript Order Page.

Important Instructions for Transcript Request Form

  1. Student ID Number refers to your UC Davis Student Identification Number. All students enrolled in a UC Davis course will have a unique UC Davis Student ID Number. All non-UC Davis students have been sent a letter and email with their UCD ID. If you lost your UC Davis ID number, email summer-abroad@ucdavis.edu.
  2. Transcript Type refers to what type of student you are listed as in the UC Davis Student Database.
    • If you are a UC Davis Undergraduate Student, check "Undergraduate."
    • If you are a UC Davis Graduate Student, check "Graduate."
    • If you are not a UC Davis Student, check "Other" and write "ND" for Non-UC Davis.
  3. Grades for Summer Abroad are often not officially available until mid-October. If you are sending your Transcript Request form before October, you should check the "the End of Quarter" option under Hold for (optional). Enter "Summer Special Session" in the space in front of "(quarter)" and 2008 (or the year for which the courses were taken) in the space in front of "(year)."
