Summer Abroad may cancel a program due to low enrollment, for safety concerns, or other reasons that make continuation of a program in the planned location difficult. If a program is cancelled, Summer Abroad will contact enrolled students. You will have the option of transferring to another open program or canceling your enrollment in Summer Abroad.
A refund will be given if the SA Office cancels a program and you choose not to participate in an alternate offering. You will not be charged a cancellation fee. Because Summer Abroad will not refund your airfare, you should purchase trip cancellation insurance. Most travel agents, including STA Travel, offer trip cancellation insurance. (See your agent directly for details.)
If you need to cancel from a Summer Abroad program prior to its commencement, you must complete an official Cancellation Form. You may request the form via email by contacting summer-abroad@ucdavis.edu. Be sure to provide a statement of your reason(s) for cancellation and any available supporting documentation (medical forms, police reports, etc).
If you fail to officially cancel from the program (by submitting the required Cancellation Form), you will be charged all program fees. Many of our programs have waiting lists, and by failing to cancel, you may be denying someone else the opportunity to study abroad. There are no refunds for non-attendance. The cancellation schedule is outlined below.
April 11, 2008 (on or before): $300 deposit is non-refundable. No additional cancellation charges.
April 12 – June 13, 2008: $300 deposit, Accommodation & Activities Fee (varies by program), and $250 Cancellation Fee are charged and non-refundable.
June 14, 2008 (and after): $300 deposit, Accommodations & Activities Fee, Program Fee balance, and Course Fee are charged and non-refundable.
To withdraw from the program while it is in progress, fill out a Withdrawal form (available from Summer Abroad). There are no refunds for withdrawals.
