Applying to a Summer Abroad Program

Checking Your Enrollment Status
Student Login
Two to three days after you submit an enrollment packet to the Summer Abroad office, your student login account will show your enrollment status.

Waitlist Status
If your Enrollment Packet is completed after a program is full, we will keep your materials, return your deposit check, and put your name on a waitlist. You can check your waitlist status via your Student Login or by contacting summer-abroad@ucdavis.edu.

If a space opens up for you, we will contact you immediately to confirm that you still would like to be enrolled in the program and to request the deposit. We will give you two business days to respond before moving to the next person on the waitlist. The waitlist option will close thirty days prior to the program start date.

If you have made other plans for your summer but are still on the waitlist, please contact Summer Abroad and ask to be removed from the waitlist.

Summer Abroad does not know in advance when a space will open up for those on the waitlist. There is no trend that could help us predict how many, if any, students will cancel their enrollment in a particular Summer Abroad program. Sometimes waitlisted students transfer their enrollment to an alternate open program. You may want to discuss this option with a program coordinator at Summer Abroad.

You may apply for one back-up program (second program of choice) if you have waitlisted status.  You will be committed to this program, and will be subject to all enrollment and cancellation policies (the only exception being that you are accepted into your waitlist program).  To do this, you must apply for the back-up program online through your Summer Abroad login.  You will need print out the new program’s cover sheet and submit it to the Summer Abroad office to be considered for enrollment in the back-up program.

Checking Your Program Status
Once you are enrolled, you can monitor your program’s status via your Student Login on the Enrolled Access page. Your program’s status will be shown at the top of the page.

Participation Policies and Participant Contract
Upon enrollment in UC Davis Summer Abroad, you will agree to certain terms and conditions. These terms are defined in the Participant Contract that you will sign and turn in with your Enrollment Packet.   Before you enroll, make sure you read this contract thoroughly and that you understand what is required of you as a participant in a Summer Abroad program. If you have questions about this contract, please contact Summer Abroad for a clarification of the terms.

Violation of the Participant Contract may result in your exclusion from a portion of the program (classes and/or activities, facilities or accommodations) or your removal from the entire program. Violations will be reported to the UC Davis Student Judicial Affairs Office. Students from other campuses will have a report sent to their home campus as well. Upon your return, the UC Davis Student Judicial Affairs Office may impose disciplinary action. Refunds are not given if you are excluded or removed from a program.
